On Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 5:30 PM, the iMuC – Museum Computer was officially inaugurated in Messina, the first museum entirely dedicated to vintage computers and the history of information technology. The free public event took place inside the premises of BNO Informatica on Via Garibaldi and offered visitors the opportunity to explore a unique technological heritage, featuring historic devices, retro gaming stations, and live demonstrations.

A New Cultural Institution Dedicated to the History of Computing

The iMuC was founded from the idea of three enthusiasts from Messina — Biagio Natoli Orioles, Alessandro Coletta and Tonino Bisazza — with communication consulting provided by Emanuele Campagna. The museum represents a completely new cultural initiative for the city of Messina: a permanent exhibition space where visitors can rediscover the key milestones in technological evolution, from the earliest computers of 1977 to systems from the 2000s and beyond.

Vintage Computers, Retrogaming and Digital Memory

On display is a large collection of vintage computers, retrogaming consoles, software, and devices that shaped the digital era. The goal is to offer an immersive journey through the history of computing, exploring the professional, domestic, and entertainment aspects of technology.

The museum experience is designed to engage enthusiasts, students, and curious visitors through an educational and informative approach aimed at enhancing and preserving the computing heritage.

During the inaugural evening on April 12, starting at 5:30 PM, technology industry experts shared anecdotes, insights, and curiosities about the historic devices on display. Visitors had the opportunity to watch live demonstrations, freely explore the exhibition areas, and enjoy a social gathering with refreshments.

Messina Embraces Digital Culture

With the opening of iMuC, Messina now has its first permanent technology museum, offering a new point of reference for digital culture, technological education, and the historical memory of computing. An initiative that enriches the city’s cultural landscape and encourages reflection on the digital evolution that has transformed our present.
